PAULE DUBOIS DUPUIS

Paule Dubois Dupuis believes living in the moment is key to being fully alive. According to her mother, she speaks her mind much too frequently, and her art helps her express how she journeys through this world. As a student, she couldn’t tolerate the classroom unless she was drawing or painting or, occasionally, writing a theatrical script. Paule started her professional life as an autodidact, eventually even teaching others her watercolor methods. She largely abandoned that medium after feeling too constrained by the size of the paper. At the age of 36, Paule returned to University to complete her BFA, lecturing her children that school is beneficial at any age and that the only reason to stop following your dreams is if you’re dead. After graduating magna cum laude from Ottawa University, the family moved to California, where she studied at the San Francisco Art Institute.

Born in Quebec, Canada, Paule lived much of her adult life in Ottawa and Montreal and married her childhood sweetheart. Her family, including two then-teenagers, moved to San Francisco in 1999 for a supposed “four year adventure”. The population was denser in San Francisco than Québec but the sun and water were her refuge and she used oil as a media to give her mind and body an outlet for stress, passion, love and sadness. Still in California today but left the concrete in 2018 for a new way of life in the Sierra Mountains in Truckee.

Being a “Momo” for four little girls and a boy, she now spends her days between her studio, her family and the mountains!  Her work is evolving and changing, being influenced by the beauty of nature and the slower pace of life!
