Meet Gallery Owner,
Piper Johnson
Piper’s love of skiing brought her from Boston to Lake Tahoe in the mid 1990’s where a friend introduced her to painting. She started out painting acrylic still life as well as landscapes before developing her signature plein air oil paintings and textured abstracts.
As a self taught artist, she studied under Wendy Ulmann, Gregory Kondos, Kevin Macpherson, Frank Serrano, and Antonin Passemard in France and Russia.
With exhibits at the Western Nevada College, the Wilbur May Museum, the The North Lake Tahoe Visitors center, and St. Mary’s Art Center in Virginia City. Her work also appeared on cover of the North Lake Tahoe Weekly Magazine and she was featured in an episode of PBS’s Art Effects.
After owning a gallery in Incline Village for years, Johnson moved to Truckee and opened Piper J Gallery on Donner Pass Road. She has curated a diverse selection of artwork from many of the regions finest artists. Additionally, she regularly works with interior designers, realtors and city partners to showcase local talent in an effort to build Truckee’s reputation as a destination for fine art.
